Annual Giving Campaign: Make a Life by Giving

As Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
This year’s Annual Giving Campaign, “Make a Life by Giving,” enhances our core purpose of Women Building Better Communities. With your generous donation, our current projects will flourish. Last year the money raised went to fund our current 6 projects in the community, along with 20 one day projects that make an immediate impact on the lives of Los Angeles’ underserved women and children. Donations to JLLA have also contributed to the development of several on-going projects: the LACMA Docents Group, the Victim-Witness Assistance Program, and the “Baldauf/Grossman Women’s Empowerment Program” at Chrysalis.
When you give, you really make an impact on our community projects. Here are some examples of what your donations are equivalent to:
- $50 donation - A college prep info packet for “College Prep 101” with HOLA (Heart of Los Angeles) consisting of workshops for underserved high school juniors and seniors that help prepare them for the college application and admission process. These students are all the first in their families to have this opportunity.
- $100 donation - Health Fair supplies for the “Whole Woman: Saturdays for Yourself” program at Downtown Women’s Center. This project incorporates lifestyle workshops for homeless and low income women in the Los Angeles downtown area.
- $500 donation - Health Fair supplies listed above plus art supplies for the “Girls Empowerment” program with Aviva Family & Child Services. This mentoring program enhances life, career and social skills for residents of a home for troubled adolescent girls.
- $1000 donation - Includes all of the above plus books for our “Stories Abroad” program at Children’s Institute, Inc. This project serves underprivileged children by taking them on a “trip” around the world in global storytelling.
No donation is too small to “Make a Life by Giving” and to help our projects flourish.
