As we approach the new League year, we wanted to make all of our members aware of new leadership opportunities (in addition to many other incredible, currently existing opportunities). Several of the committee member positions are considered leadership opportunities and are Council Appointed. The main difference between Council Selected and Council Appointed positions are that Council Selected designates leading a committee, whereas Council Appointed is a leadership role that does not lead a committee, but still offers great exposure to being in a leadership role.

Strategic Planning Committee
Every five (5) years, a Strategic Planning Committee is created to develop the Strategic Plan that the League will follow for the next five (5) years. In the 2021-2022 League year, the Strategic Plan for 2022-2027 will be researched and developed. This is a wonderful opportunity to work strategically with the Board of Directors and Management Council on strategic priorities for the JLLA’s future. If you are a big picture thinker who is creative, innovative and willing to act boldly, this might be a great placement for you. There are seven (7) leadership positions available: one Chair position and six (6) [Council Appointed] committee placements.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee
For the 2021-2022 League year, the DEI Committee is charged with integrating the DEI Implementation Plan into the work of the Councils, executing the DEI Training Framework Initiative and tracking and reporting the JLLA’s DEI progress. The DEI Committee will help promote best practices within JLLA, raise awareness, increase sensitivity and help create an environment that reflects JLLA’s values. There are four (4) leadership positions available: one Chair position and three (3) [Council Appointed] committee placements. Additional committee members will be placed by the Placement Algorithm in May 2021.
Centennial Task Force
As we approach our JLLA Centennial celebration in 25-26, we continue to lay the groundwork and begin planning for this momentous occasion. Two leadership placements are available for the 2021-2022 League year for the Centennial Task Force: Chair and Chair-Elect (two-year placement). These leaders will be responsible for implementing the Centennial framework, prepare for the Centennial fundraising campaign and continue to research and create external partnerships to support the Centennial celebration. This is a great opportunity to be part of JLLA’s rich history! The remainder of the Task Force for 2021-2022 will be double placements to include both Actives and Sustainers, to be placed during summer 2021.
Leadership Development & Immersion (LDAI)
The newly formed LDAI committee for the 2021-2022 League year combines two of JLLA’s powerhouse training programs. LDAI will be responsible for the management and execution of both the Leadership Development Institute (LDI) and Leadership Immersion (LI) program, focused on providing current and future JLLA leaders with immersive leadership training and coaching experience. LDI is a 5-month program incorporating one-to-one professional and peer coaching sessions, while LI is designed specifically to address the requests for flexible, impactful leadership training in a condensed and highly accessible format. There are two co-chair positions on LDAI, both leadership roles. These two positions will be responsible for the planning, organization and execution of JLLA’s award winning LDI Program, as well as its sister initiative, Leadership Immersion.
