JLLA Hosts Successful 5th Annual Touch-A-Truck Event

The Junior League of Los Angeles welcomed approximately 2,000 attendees to the 5th Annual Touch-A-Truck event on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks. The event, which aimed to provide a day of exploration and excitement for families while supporting JLLA’s programs, showcased a diverse array of vehicles and activities.

“Touch-A-Truck is more than an event; it’s a sparkling day of wonder for our children, and a crucial opportunity to support JLLA’s programs of empowerment of Los Angeles’ transition-aged foster youth,” said Katherine La Spada, President of Junior League of Los Angeles.

Families were treated to hands-on experiences with vehicles of all sizes, including a Los Angeles County Fire Department Lifeguards patrol truck, a Waste Management garbage truck, a trackless train from Roaming Railroad, and more. Children and adults alike delighted in exploring these vehicles, meeting the professionals who operate them, and learning about their functions.

In addition to the vehicle displays, attendees enjoyed craft activities, kids’ games, music, and delicious offerings from food trucks onsite. The event was made possible by generous sponsors such as BeatBuds, Cruden Bay Investment Management, and Skechers, among others.

Proceeds from ticket sales supported JLLA’s community projects, which focus on self-esteem/empowerment, food insecurity, homelessness among transition-aged foster youth, educational opportunities, workforce development, and access to mental health resources for underserved students.
